Season 2 Episode 6 – Sinéad

On this week episode I sit down with Sinead Barry. Let me start by saying at point during our conversation

Sinead asked me if i was okay, that sums up Sinead. This episode was extremely difficult, I could not contain my emotions and wept openly throughout, Sinead is a special kind of person , so strong and dedicated, dedicated to her family, to Mike and to keeping Mikes memory alive.

On the 23rd March 2019 after a short illness and at 32 years of age Mike passed away surrounding by Sinead and his family, leaving Sinead and their children behind.

Sinead shares some wonderful memories with me but most importantly Sinead shares Mike with me a man who put Sinead, their children and their dreams first, a joker and his no nonsense approach “It is what it is ” attitude.

Mike was a forward thinker and when Mikes sister got in touch to DIYSOS to finish their dream home I have no doubt Mike was there at the side-lines watching down on them.

As she watches the sunrise with her coffee every morning she is very aware it is all very surreal and bittersweet.

With Mikes anniversary coming up next week I am very grateful to you Sinead, so Follow, follow the sun and which way the wind blows when this day is done.

Season 2 Episode 5 – Anne

On this week’s episode I sit down with Anne Cummins, Anne is a wife, a mother, a sister and an aunt, my aunt.

I always wanted to sit down with Anne, as a child I always remember her big personality, always kind and so welcoming.

We chat about her life born into a huge family in the tenements of Dublin, an era where money meant nothing where people didn’t look at each differently because what you had was shared.

We chat about how family is most important and how now and over the past few years she has relied on her brothers and sisters more than ever.

We talk about her Dermot and the man he was, how Parkinson’s destroyed their dreams and the awful decision  made for Dermot to go to a nursing home.

We talk about the painful, difficult fair deal process and how she couldn’t cope if Dermot was alive today during covid.

We talk about her beautiful daughters, her love of bingo and the absolute carry on of their come dine with me nights.

This is a lovely listen, Ann has the kindest soul which she attributes to Dermot and her mantra of if you have nothing nice to say…… say nothing

Season 2 Episode 4 – Paul

On this week’s episode I sit down with Paul Kinsella, I have one word for Paul, Tenacious.

I came across Paul on Instagram where he shares his home and life with Penny and Mark.

Paul is so open and honest as we chat through his beautiful relationship with his best friend his mom, moving on and finding love and support in a new family.

We chat through him travelling the world as a dancer, meeting Mark, falling in love, that engagement and his Penny.

We talk about what May 22nd  2015 really meant to him, his future with Mark and their plans for children.

It’s silly to say but Paul left me feeling warm and fuzzy, someone to have in your corner just a really good guy everything a dad should be and what a dad he is going to be…
